The Tech 4 uses all new internal sealing for reduced friction and the pivot spins on roller bearings, allowing the spring rate to be reduced. The lower spring rate in turn gives a lighter lever action, reducing rider fatigue and maintaining legendary feel and modulation. The updated V4 caliper utilizes hybrid style stainless steel pistons with a phenolic insert, allowing for smoother movement and less maintenance, while managing high temperatures without heat transfer during extreme use.
The lever has been updated to provide a more ergonomic shape, oriented to offer the best mechanical advantage during braking. The master cylinder includes reach and bite point control adjustability (BPC), and the piston is actuated by a cam and roller system to eliminate free play and friction. A split clamp is designed to reduce clutter and create more space for handlebar-mounted devices, directly compatible with Shimano I-Spec shifters.
The one-piece 4-piston caliper, CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminum alloy, increases caliper stiffness for better efficiency. It features increased pad surface area and more machining for better heat management and pad life. The package includes a lever assembly, pre-bled black hose with stainless fittings, and a 74mm caliper. Note that the V4 caliper is not compatible with all direct mount 180mm forks due to the large piston design and variation in mount positions.
